Fort Leonard Wood Yearbook Collection

A collection of yearbook pages containing graduates from
Fort Leonard Wood Army Training Center
in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, USA

Years 1958-1967

Mission

We are getting to the time when the soldiers who fought in Vietnam are passing away.
When that happens, they leave behind so much stuff that their descendants don't
know what to do with it all.
That's when things end up in garage sales, antique stores, or even worse, the trash.
So our mission is to preserve the Fort Leonard Wood yearbooks and put those pages online for free.

The Vietnam War was a rough conflict for our soldiers & most were not welcomed home after.
Many soldiers who returned would not or could not talk about their experience and
many stories have gone undocumented.
Some soldiers were quick to get rid of anything that reminded them of the war.
This includes photographs.
Some families of the soldiers have never seen these yearbooks.
So we want to make this possible for them & honor the soldiers who fought.

My dad served in Vietnam.
So this project is dedicated to him & all the soldiers who fought in the war in Vietnam.

Fort Leonard Wood was an Army Training Base that opened at the start of World War II first in Leon, Iowa, but then moved to South-Central Missouri. It was originally opened as a training facility for Infantry but then became an Engineer Training Facility. It was made inactive in 1946 but reopened for the Korean War & Vietnam War.  These are our ongoing efforts for this project
